Georgios Kouvidis

Theratechnica

I am a seasoned expert with 30 years of experience at the intersection of defence policy, financial strategy, and European institutional governance. My career has been shaped by deep engagement with EU defence and security frameworks. As Deputy Administrator of the ATHENA mechanism (EU Council), I was responsible for the financial and logistical planning of EU military operations, with first-hand operational experience across virtually all EU missions and operations prior to the establishment of the European Peace Facility. As Senior Policy Officer at the European Defence Agency, I contributed to the development of key instruments including the European Defence Fund (EDF), PESCO, and EU capability development frameworks. This combination of operational ground-level experience and high-level institutional policymaking gives me a distinctive perspective on the European defence ecosystem: how capability gaps are identified, how funding mechanisms are designed, and how industry and institutions can align to deliver strategic impact. In parallel, I serve as CEO of Theratechnica, an innovative healthcare technology company leveraging AI, AR, and VR to transform medical training and patient care, demonstrating my broader commitment to dual-use and deep-tech innovation with real-world impact.

How they Support SAge-Hub?

AI, digital health, and emerging smart systems hold transformative potential, but their impact depends on responsible governance, cross-sector collaboration, and practical implementation. My career at the intersection of public institutions, regulated environments, and technology-driven initiatives has shown me that sustainable innovation requires more than technical excellence, it demands trust, transparency, and alignment between policy, industry, and citizens.

Through my work in EU institutions and in technology leadership roles, I have contributed to structured market engagement, procurement intelligence, and ecosystem coordination across borders. I am particularly motivated to support platforms that bridge research, startups, public authorities, and industry, enabling co-creation models such as living labs and scalable digital health solutions.
As an Ambassador, I aim to contribute strategic foresight, governance discipline, and network-building capacity to strengthen digital innovation cooperation. My motivation is to help build frameworks where smart technologies are not only developed, but responsibly deployed, trusted, and accessible, accelerating impact while safeguarding integrity and long-term societal value.
